Join Andrea Maida in this workshop and ensure your Standing Arm Springs series gets you that full body workout you're looking for every time! Andrea's two tricks for addressing the full standing body include 1) connecting the arms into the back and 2) making use of the floor as an apparatus with the help of a 2x4. She starts off by first building the arm-back connection with exercises on the Cadillac, Spine Corrector, Arm Chair and Pedi Pole. Visit Andrea at her website & blog: Pilates Andrea.

Thanks so much Jackie, i am glad you found this to be helpful and that you’re excited to get into the studio to try it 🙂 Rock on! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words on this video. xo

  3. Elizabeth Brown Meier

I love this video! I was able to connect my back and stomach through the standing arms, which is very challenging for me. I was also able to pull my shoulders down my back and lift up, which was a surprise for me. I couldn’t quite circle my legs like Sandy, but I gave it a go.

Thank you so much Elizabeth! And good for you – hanging with support is not easy…but you are well prepared with all the tools to do fun Pilates circus tricks! xox and thank you for watching 🙂

Andrea this mini workshop on the arm and back connection is a wonderful tool illustrating skill building for those crazy moves we strive for. Wasn’t on this video but I will use this sequence in developing a connection for my nemesis, the Star! Ugh! I wish you could have seen my hanging leg circles….not too bad! You rock! Thanks!

    • Andrea Maida Author

Yes – these exercises could all serve you well as you work on the Star – good for you – that is quite a nemesis exercise to be sure 🙂 And OMG good for you girl rocking the Hanging Leg Circles!! I believe YOU rock! I love to use Rolling Back as my exercise mantra…wouldn’t be nice if all the exercises were so luxurious? xox

Andrea, I so enjoy your teaching and I learned a lot of technique for my body by watching you. Thank you

Thanks for that Andrea. From repeated shoulder injurys and strength imbalances, keeping the arm connection with the back is sometimes a challenge for me. I got some great tips from you on how to maintain that. Great work!
