The Snake and Twist isn’t and exercise done only on the Mat or Reformer, it happens throughout the studio. Kathi explores all the different apparatus you can do it on including the Reformer, Ladder Barrel, Arm Chair, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Mat, Pedipole and how each one creates a different challenge towards the goal of the move. Learn why you might for instance take a client with a tight upper body to the Wunda Chair to open the chest and how to cue it for the desired effect. How interesting to see the association of the Snake & Twist demonstrated on all the different pieces of Apparatus.
The ultimate challenge surely, must be practicing it on the free mat, thereby, support your own bodyweight throughout the exercise, and without the use of the Contour mats raised edge to press your feet against.
Likewise stacking foot on top of foot is key to building, strength and integrity in executing the exercise don’t you think? One foot in front of the other completely defeats this aspect of the exercise.
The Mat work exemplifies the Method!
