Learn about all the benefits of one of Kathi Ross Nash's favorite apparatus - the Contour Mat! In this quick video, Kathi explains how she fell in love with this uncommon piece and why she recommends it to everyone despite its higher cost. She explains how the shape, angle and height of the curve and bar really open up target parts of the body, naturally get the body into the correct position while taking pressure off the shoulders and neck, and maintain flow during your Mat sequence. After Kathi's quick demo, you just might fall in love with it too! For info on training with Kathi visit: KathiRossNash.com.

Just received my Contour mat to compliment Kathi’s mat book! Haven…I’m in haven! Thank you Kathi…and Gratz, for everything!

You read my mind…. I am beginning to transition to all Gratz equipment and I’m sold on the contour mat! I think this the perfect piece to start with (in addition to reformer, of course!) Thank you Kathi for sharing all your knowledge and doing it in a very practical way. I’ve learned so much!

My pleasure!!! I fought so hard to get this piece brought back into production and happily now two manufacturers are producing it!!!!

Thank you very much for your thoughts Kathi.
My options are limited to making something myself, and will seek out the shape of a small or half barrel.

been giving this thought and the only thing that would work is to actually get a half barrel of some sorts…

Thank you Kathi for sharing your story about your raised mat, and also, telling us that there were various contour mats at Romana’s Studio when you first started training. Where are they now, or has someone got those old mats in NYC?

What can you suggest I use as an alternative not having any such Apparatus? You mentioned the contour/mould was very precise.
How about a rolled up rubber mat!
I particularly liked how it opens the front of the hip with single leg stretches as you demonstrated. The mat work shortens these muscles I find, so I will try to simulate what you kindly shared somehow!
You were very fortunate indeed to be given such a mat originally by a colleague.
    Interesting.

    Love this sort of material.
