This Mat workout is perfect for honing in your advanced skills while preparing you for similar moves on the Reformer and other apparatus. Niedra teaches the building blocks that make many of the advanced moves possible and she begins with a fun trick involving 5-lb weights for perfecting the Pilates squat (if you've ever struggled with keeping your heels down and knees apart, you'll appreciate this).     OMG!! What a great class! Thank you. I was just talking to a friend about mat instruction Pilates course that she took and that I will take and was telling her that I could not even do the sit down with grace or the stand up !! Feeling a bit bad for not being able o do it perfect. And here you are EXPLAINING it perfect and made me do it so much better, not perfect but better and with a better understanding! Thank you!!!

      Hi Nancy, so glad you enjoyed this class and got some value from the sit down details – always good to know how to stand up and sit down ( to the floor) without hands. I read some research recently saying that people who CAN get to the floor and stand up without hands have a longer life expectancy! keep practicing, and having fun – this is anti aging.

    I always am on the look out for Mat work each week here on Pilatesology!
    Niedra Gabriel always offers some interesting variations and or emphasis within an exercise.

    Are the two Ladies Classical Instructors.

    The young Lady at the front, named Jolene (SP!) I think, smiled and enjoyed the practice and the Instructors spotting from time to time.
    Great to see this good spirit and a strong Push Up.
