    So funny your comments, especially for the male clients. I have a few who raise their eyebrows when we do something on the front (like the small barrel or spine corrector). Anyhoo, great tutorial and the ‘up up up up not back back back’ worked for me lol. Oh, and it feels so good for the spine to do the swan!

    Thanks Blossom, I’ve always learnt the other way you spoke about and it’s tricky as clients have bodies that somehow don’t like that position – it’s not comfortable, so look forward to trying this out.

    That was a great breakdown and I’m looking forward to trying this variation.
    Back in my 20s I never minded Romana’s pubic bone variation but as I’ve aged (and fattened, weakened and sagged ????) I’m not as comfortable there so will try a few and get back to you. Loads of love and great appreciation to you and Pilatesology! ❤

    Thanks Blossom. Great explanation – which looks fabulous.. the swan is my nemesis and I don’t make it look pretty. This seems to definitely mimic more thigh stretch which I know Ive been told lots but still seem to fail on my own:) Ill be practising these breakdowns and lets see if I can start to make the swan look a little more elegant:)

    Hi Blossom, oh great news! I’m based in Zurich, Switzerland. Can I participate in your workshop? Meanwhile I worked out the different variations with the feet: I’m 6 feet tall and have shoe size 9 1/2, added 1 hook more to the strap (worked perfectly!). Your cues for heels down, pubicbone up, helps me not going into my lower back. Love the choreography and the balls! Is the breathing the same as the one on the high barrel long exhale coming up/arching?

    I’m one of THOSE who learned the pubic bone on/under the edge of the long box, heels on footbar, toes on frame, starting the first arch with bent knees like you showed it… so I’m TRULY THANKFUL for having learned a different Swan on the Reformer (definitely better variation for the lower back). I’ll begin teaching it to my good intermediate clients. I found the footstrap variations helpful too! Is there a chance to meet you for a workshop or lesson in Europe sometime?
