Working with her student Emma, Lori details some of the causes of sciatica, a common condition demonstrated by pain that usually runs down the back of the leg. Sciatica pain can range anywhere from very acute caused by disk issues to a throbbing or simply irritating pain from something as simple as sitting too much or holding tension. In Emma's case, Lori works on improving her breathing and then takes her through a series of movements to help her alignment and flexibilty. Visit Lori at Atlas Pilates in Seattle, Washington where this class was filmed.

Thank you Lori!!! These are an outstanding sequence of stretches to help with sciatica!! I will use these and train with these with my clients!! I was using similar ones to help my clients, but I like your sequence so much better!

Hi Cecilia. I’m glad you enjoyed this workout. I had never worked with her before, as she is the client of one of my colleagues. I was definitely struck with how much tension she carried in her bottom and her need for breathing! This is a good example of how I try to take time to assess the whole person. Thank you for watching!

Would be nice if I can actually see the video. It is completely dark

      Hi Jody,
Sorry for the slow reply! I suspect the reason you got sound with no picture is a recent change that we made–we created a version of the video for very weak bandwidth- and also for the upcoming Apple App that requires an ” audio only ” option. Try this- refresh the class page and play again. It should send out another file with video. Write to me at jack@pilatesology and let me know : )

      Best,

      Jack
