Shoulder Bridge Booty Lift

Watch the preview

Holy hamstrings and hindquarters Batman! This series of exercises aims a laser beam straight at your hips, glutes, and hams, bringing balance, strength and flexibility to this key area of the body. You’ll want a towel or socks to slide your foot on the floor for a few exercises, as well as a Spine Corrector and a small box like the one from a High Mat (if you don't have either handy, you can substitute with furniture). Visit Blossom at her studio in Brooklyn, NY at Bridge Pilates.

Would you kindly refrain from saying “Lord have mercy” during workouts? I am Orthodox; we use that prayer quite often, to acknowledge our need for God’s mercy. Simply straining at an exercise is not a very nice use for it. So I found it distracting.

  4. Hi Blossom,
I really enjoyed watching this breakdown of the Shoulder Bridge! I am looking forward to working with the different variations with my clients and in my own body! I have never tried the Shoulder Bridge 2 before… Can’t wait to give it a try 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing Blossom and Alisa!

May I ask you please – what is the Anatomical reasoning for cueing Alisa to work from her ribs to move the extended leg?
I believe you indicated you learned this piece of work from Irene Dowd.
Where did the final version of the Shoulder Bridge emanate from, that is, the Instructor source?
When you cue Alisa to spiral her leg and foot in, do you mean an internal rotation in the hip joint, so the heel is turned out and the knuckle of the foot turned inward, or keep in parallel?
This is a unique tutorial and for my own part, I am very grateful to you Blossom Leilani Crawford for sharing it with those of us who otherwise would never have the opportunity to see and learn such work about the Method.
Alisa Wyatt just seems to get better at her practice don’t you think Mrs Blossom Leilani Crawford!
Content herein is ***** Quality for sure.

Thank you for all of the great questions! To answer some of them (please email me to get more answers), Alisa does get better at her practice!. The foot is parallel. The final version of the Shoulder Bridge (as Kathy Grant taught me and called it Shoulder Bridge #2), is from Mr. Pilates. The modification of the exercise came from Irene Dowd. Last, I wanted Alisa NOT to lift her leg from the knee which is why I cued otherwise. I hope that helps!
