In this 2 1/2 hour workshop, Jay teaches on the topic of Improving Your Teaching. Join him as he shares his own experiences as a teacher as well as a student of Joe Pilates himself, and summarizes them into a few simple points of timeless, priceless advice: 1) work the mind as much as the body, 2) be humble & keep it simple, 3) "bad" is alright; "dangerous" is not, and 4) "shut up and let them move!" After revealing his core philosophies, he leads the group through a critique of a 15-minute session taught by a brave volunteer, followed by a long Q/A session filled with answers to nagging questions many teachers have in common. Find out more about working with Jay Grimes at www.VintagePilates.com. Our gratitude goes to Gloria Gasperi, Host of the 2015 Classical Pilates Convention in Pisa, Italy, where this was filmed; visit her at Studio Pilates di Gloria Gasperi for info on future events.

I really enjoyed every part of this, and enjoyed Glorias translation. she was fun! always love learning from Jay.
Sandy’s answer to the question of “do you ever get bored teaching pilates” would have been exactly my answer.
in my own experience in the past i had this thought in my mind, it came and went but it annoyed me because why was i feeling bored when i really loved to teach? am i the only one?
something wasn’t right, even when i tried to think of new creative stuff to “add” i was still feeling bored.
its true what sandy said “i didn’t understand how to apply my self as a teacher”.
but the moment i started understanding the what and why i am teaching, really observing the body in front of me and not just throwing exercises at a client, is the moment the boredom disappeared and started to enjoy. as if a black cloud just got lifted from above me and for the first time was able to really see the body in front of me.

You always learn something new when listening to Jay! My favorite quote this time, “Pilates is good for everyone, but not everyone is good for Pilates.”
