Join Alycea for a Reformer workout focused on the ‘hot spots’ where we tend to use momentum instead of working hard. With her brilliant use of images, Alycea brings attention to the hot spot in each exercise, and then returns the pace to a faster tempo with new, fresh effort. This effort keeps your springs engaged at all times which translates as length in the spring and thereby, length in your body—as Alycea says you’ll ‘become your springs.’ This is the type of Reformer that leaves you sore for days after so be ready to feel the changes in your body! Filmed at Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates™, New York, NY.

Great workout. The single BEST cue was to “use the tush to push” during stomach massage! What a revelation. I felt my abs much more deeply than I ever have. Thank you Alycea!

Fantastic class, as the English would say! Loved the “be the spring” with your body!

Wonderful class! I really liked the statement that “by the end of the knee stretches you should be out of breath.” Some of my students get demoralized about them being so difficult, and I tell them it’s normal, but having a “rule” about it is more fun.

Fabulous class! Truly a master of the craft. I can’t wait to get to NY City to take from Alycea.

Alycea, I loved this class. Right from that very first hot spot in tendon stretch. It just shows you when you get access to a teacher who has studied the method in depth how much more you can wring out of every exercise. Thanks to Alisa & Jack for giving so many of us access to teachers we might not otherwise experience.

I always find myself writing down a page of cues, images and ideas when watching Alycea! I was thinking I could make a banner for my studio that says “Be the spring”. Thank you once again for the inspiration and making Pilates worthy and fun!

I now have my reformer back in my home and just did this workout. It was awesome! Very challenging. Although, a couple of times I was thinking, “I hate this woman!” Such torture coming from someone with such a pleasant demeanor.

Troy, this comment cracks me up because I have thought the exact same thing doing while this class only to laugh out loud in the next moment when Alycea says it herself. We all love the teachers who make us do the things we don’t like to do!

  17. Thank you for such a fun and incredible class. I’m excited to take this fresh perspective with me to the studio today! (Would LOVE to see a tower class with you, Alycea!)

I thought I couldn’t love your reformer more than your mat, boy you showed me. I think I got taller with this one, definitely a sweat girl! Love you and thanks for making Pilates fun!

You mention that there is a lot of “footage floating about of Mr Pilates” doing these exercises. Where can it be accessed please or is there a price!
    Thank you very much.

How wonderful. All those years Romana wasn’t filmed and now her teachers are showing her work. Alycea is a master at work. She didn’t demonstrate, didn’t tell stories about herself, didn’t invent anything, served rather than starred. It was all about her students, and very pure Romana and Joe. New cues on familiar exercises, I LOVE the ‘open the springs” Never thought it that way, She worked the camera and included the audience. Great information. As a physical therapist she shared her eye and knowledge without using anatomical terms. Her voice full of energy. Instead of finish watching I had to go work out. Thank you, Alycea and Pilatesology

Thank you, Thank you Alycea! I loved the cues, am always looking for ways to slow my clients down so they can connect in to the springs deeper and you called it. I felt great and energized after the class! Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of information with us and please don’t ever stop laughing, you’re lovely!
