In this workshop for teachers, Inelia Garcia, head of The Pilates Studio Brazil, shows how to use the Guillotine for different types of bodies, male or female, stiff spines to flexible. As Inelia points out, it's important to know how to teach each exercise but even more that you know how to address the body's specific needs in order to achieve your the goals. Beginning with Jorge Miguel whose body is somewhat stiff, Inelia takes him through the Tower exercise where you can easily see how the bar shifts where there is weakness or imbalance. For the Monkey exercise, she positions him further back than a more flexible person would do it. Next she takes him through the Teaser series with hips positioned just in front of the bar. They finish with the backbend dismount where if you watch carefully you’ll see Inelia's setup details which make it easy even for a tight spine. Next, she presents the whole series with Carolina, a dancer whose body is extremely flexible compared to Jose Miguel's. You’ll notice for example on the Monkey, Inelia puts her pelvis much further forward with her sit bones directly under her heels. Go HERE to find the rest of this series.
