Great video! I always love hearing things about Joe firsthand… Alissa, going back to the question about technology, you and Jay were wondering what kinds of technology are being used in the pilates world, and there´s an interesting one you didn´t mention. I´m seeing that some people are now giving pilates lessons over skype, the client has a laptop with a camera set up wherever he or she is, and the teacher is on the other end giving instructions. What would your and Jay´s view of this be? Obviously you lose all hands on cue options, but maybe it would make the client have to think a bit differently than in a studio session? What other issues could this create?

Ah, excellent question! We will be sure to answer it in our next taping, I know that Skype is being used in this way by Vintage Pilates as a tool to help teachers prepare for Jay’s program “The Work” but he doesn’t personally teach via Skype.

Great, thanks! I will be looking forward to the next video in this series then. On a side note… is there a way to receive notifications via email when a question or comment on pilatesology is answered? I didn’t realise you had answered until I came across this video today for some reason… and your reply is already 10 days old.
        Thanks!

Hi Alisa and Jay, Thanks again for this great website. I love coffee with Jay classes.
This is the best way to continue the education of Pilates on a daily basis at our convenience. Also, having a teacher like Mr. Grimes to guide us is a true gift. The best to both of you and keep up the good work.
See you in Chicago Mary Lyon, Lagrange Il.

Just found out from Sean Gallagher that he doesn’t have Clara’s journals – if indeed they ever existed!

    • Alisa Wyatt

Yes the mystery of the journals continues! We interviewed Sean yesterday so you’ll get to hear about what he does have. Coming soon…

So many shout-outs! Thanks Alisa and Jay for putting up with my countless questions. I’ve had way too much time to think about these things. You both gave such great answers! So informative! Also, the man in Canada who apprenticed with Joe is Lawrence Hayward. 🙂

    • Alisa Wyatt

Gosh Martin, when do we get to meet you? You’re questions keep us going!

      • Martin 7 years ago

I’d LOVE to meet you guys! If you’re ever in Chicago or New York City for some reason, please feel free to send me an email 🙂

        • Alisa Wyatt

We’re coming to NYC on Monday!! We’re there from 10/28-11/4, let me know if you’ll be around. We are there 2-3x a year.

          • Martin 7 years ago

Ugh, I wish I were going to be there! I’ll be there at the beginning of January for a few days. I’ll be in Chicago primarily for the next several months, but then I’ll be making a more permanent move to NYC. We’ll make it happen one way or another 🙂
