Really helpful to a student teacher, as one only sees DVDs of really flexible people. It can be very daunting to know how to teach beginners and adapt exercises to suit their bodies. We don’t have many ballerinas out here in rural Northern England! Big thanks to Steve for featuring on the video.

catedavies– Yes, As beginners you still kind of have to be a little cautious of asking for too much stretch, but as you work with the client you can add more pressure to get a little more from the body. Steve is still plugging away and even spends time in rural SC now working on a horse farm from time to time, so the movement helped!

So good to see a “real” beginner. Cudos to him! I hope he has continued his practice!!

Thank you for sharing this type of session. It is very helpful to see clients that are not dancers and instructors. Most people have issues such as inflexibility, imbalances and weaknesses that limit them from doing some basic Pilates moves. I strive to learn how to work with these people. Thank You!

Helpful cues and nice sequence of excersises with stretches in between. Steve has nice mobility in shoulders than alot of men. Thoughtful and attentive instruction. Good work the both of you.
Suggestion: bare feet for push ups or socks that have traction nubs on bottom. Less struggle in finding sure footing. -
Awesome. I remember Romana used to say that with really inflexible clients you can sit on them. Though I have never tried, I remember that when working with them because they are not delicate flowers and need the strong force to get something out of it. With Steve, even though he is so tight, he has NO pain, so I know that I can push him. Glad you liked it!
