Join Kathi for a series on the Cadillac designed to create space in the spine, particularly the neck. Working with her student Ernesto, Kathi breaks down the exercises to show exactly where the body likes to 'skip' out of the point of each exercise. When you focus on the details in this way, you get incredible length in the body. Thanks to Dana Santi and Colleen Naughton Strong at The Pilates Core in LaGrange, IL where this class was filmed. Kathy this was super interesting and felt great on my neck and shoulder girdle. Unfortunately I didn’ have anyone to do the last part with the towel. Can you clarify what exactly you did? It looked as if you were pulling on the towel gently while pressing your thumbs into the forehead. Is that correct?

  7. Hi Kathi and Co,

I just purchases a used Gratz Cadilac. I noticed that on this video the bigger hooks on the push through bar face up. On my Cadilac they face down, as in teaser. Is my push through backwards? Thanks for the great pointers and info.

    Thank you Juliet

Wonderful but I laughed so hard at the black outfit mistress comment I almost let go of the push through bar!

If you have the arm chair, Julian Littleford taught an exercise to accomplish the same as the neck stretcher for spine stretch forward. Hands in the handles and behind the head as in ab curl position and you roll your spine off the back of the chair being sure to go up and over, sacrum and tailbone stay connected to the chair. This makes the pelvis stay in its correct position. Then you roll back up to lift up and out of the pelvis giving space to each vertebrae.
Thanks for the details on this Kathy as I really like to use the exercises for my clients.

i dont have a neck stretcher so I used the long straps from the reformer.it felt pretty good but is there anything i should be aware of that really changes doing it this was as opposed to the neck stretcher?

Separately could you do a session for a tight lower back?

looking forward to seeing you in valencia

There is a HUGE difference when using the straps. The spring design on the neck stretcher when attached to the springs copies that of the proportions of the spine. Therefore it adjusts how the tension is transmitted through the springs to the and through the spine
Try both and you will feel difference.
I believe Gratz will have neck stretchers in Spain
