In Part 4 of their mat breakdown series, Simona and her husband Dr. Joe Muscolino cover the anatomy of the Side Kicks mat exercise. They demonstrate what is happening anatomically and beyond that all the little details that make Pilates so incredibly effective and complete as a full body workout. Joe also shows a teaching tip that can help to train stability in the pelvis. They then show how the next step in the exercise is to create femoral pelvic rhythm, or a 'coupled' movement of the femur and the pelvis. Watch and you're sure to have a moment of awe at all of the fabulous things that Pilates does for you! Visit Simona's studio in Stamford, Connecticut at The Art of Control and Dr. Joe Muscolino at
