Such wonderful POSTURE this young Lady has.
She made those Balance exercises on top of the Wunda Chair look easy.
Liked the various exercises pushing the spring down in Standing. Looks like they would help maintain healthy hips!
The Abdominal Series at the end was a MatTest on a small surface, but, this Lady demonstrated Strength and Control.
Were the springs made by Gratz?

Hello Joesmat! It’s nice to see you again:) To answer your spring question, yes they are Gratz springs, and it is a Gratz wunda chair she is working on. The wunda chair is a great equalizer in that you really can’t “cheat”. Historically speaking, Joe Pilates had his students use the wunda chair (as well as the mat of course!) during their summer holiday so they wouldn’t lose strength, stamina, or suppleness in the body. Variety is the spice of life and the spice of Pilates. That’s what makes the “system” so versatile and powerful. Talk to you again soon!

Thank you Clare for responding to my enquiry.
You note about Joseph Pilates using the Wunda Chair for his students or clients to practice on, with their mat during the summer, is self revealing is it not, in that it suggests that he considered this piece of Apparatus contained all the necessary engredients with the mat to embrace his Methodology.Oh, perhaps, we need to include the Arm Spring Exercises for real strength work.
        Little seen or spoken about!

          Hey Joesmat!
The fact that Joe requested, suggested, or strongly urged his students to use the Wunda Chair during summer holiday was very telling indeed! That said, there is wonderful footage of Joe practicing the Spine Corrector outside at Martha’s Vineyard. He would also drill holes for hooks outside and do his arm spring work there too. By the way, have your seen the 3 different push up variations on the wunda chair? They are definitely strength building. I LOVE the arms springs, especially for men. That would be simple for you to set up at your home or studio, no?
          Best, Clare

Thank you indeed for your reply Clare!
I have observed old footage on the internet of Joe Pilates demonstrating with the Wunda Chair. I recall him doing the Push Up supine and Prone and also prone with One arm. There were many variations.
I practice Push Ups most days on my Mat, and done properly and slowly, I would imagine they are as beneficial as those done with the Wunda Chair, as you have no spring assistance. But not having a Wunda Chair I simply don’t know.
Sorry, I have no Studio. Just a humble Home practitioner.
Thank you for your interest. Most Gracious of you.
