Jessica Marcussen began practicing Pilates while working in corporate fashion in NYC. She found it continuously amazing how challenging classical Pilates could be, especially when done under the eye of an experienced and eagle eyed instructor. Inspired by her mentor, she took the plunge in 2013 to earn her mat certification, and has since then completed two comprehensive certifications (over 1000 hours of coursework) through Equinox Pilates and Real Pilates, as well as hundreds of hours of continuing education. She has studied extensively with Kathi Ross Nash, Blossom Leilani Crawford, and Deborah Lessen. In 2022, she graduated from the Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training program with Kathi Ross Nash. As a self professed anatomy nerd, she is proud to have participated in a week long cadaver dissection course with Thomas Myers (of Anatomy Trains) to further deepen her knowledge of the human body. Jessica works with clients of all ages and levels. Some of her specializations include working with: pre and post natal clients diastasis recti (certified by The Center Method for Diastasis Recti Recovery) scoliosis (certified through Scolio-Pilates with Karena Thek) She is also certified in the ELDOA method, a system of postural exercises that uses myofascial stretching to target a specific joint region to provide relief from pain and restore balance.
