I grew up in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and became interested in Pilates at Connecticut College. There I began taking mat classes twice a week before ballet class, and saw how dramatically it improved my dancing. I earned a BA in Dance and French in 2004, and continued practicing Pilates at the Pilates Center of San Francisco (PCSF). With a history of low back issues and sacrum and pelvis instability, I found Pilates to be the key to surviving as a dancer. PCSF owner and later my mentor, Martt Lawrence, suggested that I go through the Metropolitan Pilates training program in Seattle, WA with Master teacher Dorothee Vandewalle. I was certified in January 2010 by Vandewalle. I attend continuing education workshops every year with Master teachers such as Vandewalle, Jay Grimes, Kathi Ross-Nash, Alycea Ungaro, Mari Winsor, Chris Robinson, and MeJo Wiggin. Before moving to Asheville NC, I taught Pilates in San Francisco and in Geneva, Switzerland. I opened my own home studio in 2011. It is a small private studio with a mix of Gratz and custom-made equipment and I teach group classes a block away in a beautiful renovated old church space. My mission is to share the love of Pilates in different ways (like with my Pilates with Puppies classes, online Pilates private and mat classes, my free online Ab Challenge and my free Library class), and to help as many bodies feel good, strong, and as mobile as possible!
