Spice up your next mat workout with Alisa's combo platter! Part of the fun of linking exercises that follow each other is the rhythm that it creates. You'll combo your way through this killer session with exercises like Roll Up into Roll Over, Teaser into Jackknife into Swimming, and the original combo move: the Boomerang into the Seal. For Side Kicks, you'll love Kathy Grant's Fan Kick that puts the whole series into one fabulously fun move. Enjoy!

Love this combo workout. I’ve been doing Pilates for 17 years, am advanced (as well as being advanced in age), so it’s refreshing to see the moves combined in new and exciting ways. I especially love that fan kick and rolling from side to side. It feels great to be challenging muscles that don’t regularly get challenged. Changing the organization of the exercises keeps the mind working too!

Rosemarie, 17 years–that’s awesome! You must be going backwards in age :). Thank you for inspiring me to keep going I’m 47 and feel better than in my 20s myself.

Well, I’m 67 and Pilates keeps me feeling great. There is an added benefit for people with a hearing deficit, which I have. This kind of problem may be associated with vertigo and other balance problems. All the rolling exercises totally prevent vertigo! However, due to my balance issues, I do have trouble doing one-legged pushups and standing up from the mat without using my hands. But I have great flexibility because I used to dance and Pilates helps me hold on to it.

So cool to know the rolling helps with your vertigo. I’ve had many clients over the years who start out with dizzyness and it always seems to improve as they progress. Another example of Joe’s genius!

super fun! I was wondering when butt walks would make an appearance on Pilatesology. Love the double leg kick/pull straps duo.yummy!

How many times have we cleaned the mats at Dragos with those butt walks all the way across the room?!

Alisa – Thank you so very much for sharing the “combo variations” on the mat.
I particularly liked how you had us hold the side of the foot in the SAW whilst “pulling” back toward the opposite hip. It is indeed a deep stretch.
Thank you also for sharing the Kathy Grant FAN KICK. It is wonderful to see aspects of her matwork being shared here on PILATESOLOGY.
I have learned so much about the matwork since I first signed up with PILATESOLOGY in the beginning. You have made Classical Pilates affordable to everyone.

Ah yes, that stretch in the Saw is a good one, and I’m glad you enjoyed Kathy’s fan kick. If you ever get to see Blossom Leilani Crawford do it you’ll know what control really is.

That kick was so much fun! You do it wonderfully. I’d love to see Blossom on Pilatesology one day!

Hi Alisa! What great, fun combos that create a different sort of mat. It’s more aerobic like with all the rolling and rolling up to stand. Also a bit challenging on a high mat 🙂
