Get to know 2 archival standing exercises rarely taught in most Pilates classes nowadays. Shari Berkowitz and her student Roccio demonstrate the mat exercises that these standing movements are derived from, how to do them and most importantly, what to focus on to keep your pelvis stable. Do these with Shari and you’ll instantly feel your stability and balance improve! Visit Shari for teacher training, workshops and lessons at The Vertical Workshop. Our thanks to Shari’s student Roccio Cárceles and The Contrology Cohort in New York City where this was filmed.

I like to use the first in a slower version with opposite arms lifting. I call it Slo Mo March & ask clients to even out the speed throughout.
Will mix it up with these versions. Thanks.

      Hi, Cate!
      That sounds great!
Remember to set the tempo for your clients since they will want to rush! It’s fun (and difficult) to go slowly!
