In this inspiring video, Jay Grimes and his student Murat Berkin demonstrate the complete advanced Reformer as Jay remembers it from his own training with Joe Pilates. Jay has been working with Murat for about 2 years and it's notable that he uses very few cues with him. Instead, he lets Murat focus on his execution and offers help only where needed. Enjoy! Visit Jay Grimes at and you can join them both at Murat's annual Classical Pilates Conference Istanbul.

Only observe the Apparatus work; don’t have any.
I don’t recall seeing anything quite like this on video or DVD.
What stood out to me as a novice person, was the amount of extension work in one form or another included in the routine. I don’t remember seeing this before. So important for a strong Posterior Chain.
The Punches with hand weights, were executed as we do in Shotokan Karate. Very precise way of executing a punch. I don’t believe I have ever seen such a close relationship acknowledged in the Pilates work before.
I learned much from observing this Gentleman. For example – His Control, by taking a momentary pause to prepare for the next exercise!
One of the very best videos I have seen.
Lucky for those who can attend Murat’s annual Classical Pilates Conference Istanbul.
This was an endurance test it seemed to me, and the Gentleman efforts were truly exemplary. So Genuine.

Great work of both (Jay Grimes and Murat Berkin). Thanks for sharing this.
