Cindy Jansen, a Romana’s Pilates instructor and mom to 1-yr-old Alexa, lives in San Diego and teaches private lessons and small groups in her gorgeous home studio. She’s an avid Pilatesology fan and also enjoys a good kick boxing class.

1. Give us a little info about how you found the Pilates Method:

A close friend of mine introduced me to Pilates in 1999 and I immediately fell in love with every aspect of the discipline. I was hooked and wanted to learn more.  I moved to New York City in 2003 where I completed Romana Kryzanowska’s Teacher Training program. Romana’s passion and dedication to Joe’s original work was inspiring and I still to this day remember what it was like to be around her charismatic spirit.

I have been teaching the True Pilates method for over 12 years.

2. Tell us about your Pilates studio!

I currently own and run a fully-equipped private studio out of our home in San Diego. The studio is furnished exclusively with Gratz Industries Equipment.  I offer both private and semi-private sessions, and have a well-established client base that keeps me extremely busy.

3. What types of content do you view the most? Do you have favorite apparatus, interviews, teachers, classes, workouts or workshops?

I have found the Wunda Chair and Mat work content to be extremely beneficial, both personally and professionally. Having access to a variety of instructors, their unique cues and teaching styles, has given me a greater understanding of the work.

The teachers that are featured on Pilatesology are incredible. I really enjoy the videos that feature Jay Grimes, Karen Frischmann, Alisa Wyatt, Andrea Maida, Chris Robinson, and Kathi Ross-Nash. It is wonderful to be able to learn from my peers without leaving the house.

I am looking forward to doing the 30-day challenge and feeling the benefits of all that wonderful core work. I also plan on trying to view the workshops that Pilatesology offers.

Being a working mother makes my time limited but Pilatesology has made the experts only a keystroke away. It has empowered me and significantly enhanced my teaching. Not only is it convenient but I can also recommend the site to my clients who travel or just want to learn more on their own. Every time I watch a video on Pilatesology I can apply something I have learned to my teaching.

5. Have you gained insight on a particular skill, body issue or apparatus?

Pilatesology was a useful tool when I was pregnant. All of Molly Niles’ pregnancy videos were extremely educational not only in my own practice but also in teaching my clients that are currently pregnant. I found the 3rd trimester videos the most beneficial.
