Originally a farm girl from Virginia, I am a teacher through and through. I started teaching as a career at the age of 18, teaching swim lessons at the local YMCA. While attending the University of Virginia, I decided to grow my teaching from the pool to the classroom. Upon receiving my Masters of Teaching from UVA’s Curry School of Education, I taught 4th grade, 1st grade and kindergarten in the public school system. My career as a teacher continued to evolve, and at last, I was able to meld mind and body through teaching the Pilates method as a Romana Certified Pilates Instructor. I received my certification through True Pilates New York in 2012 and went on to obtain my INHC certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2013. I have been instructing Pilates at the studio where I was trained in New York City for over 4 years and have utilized my health coaching credentials to give my clients a well-rounded experience in facilitating mind-body awareness.
