Kathleen Benson
Profile
After graduating from Illinois State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Art concentrating in metalworking and glass, Kate worked as a Dental Laboratory Technician fabricating oral prosthetics. Motivated by previous professional level Cecchetti ballet training and Pilates matwork at the Conservatory of Dance in Chicago, Kate became certified in 2009 through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America as a Group Exercise Instructor. By 2013, Kate accomplished over 450 hours of study completing her Pilates apprenticeship at Core Fitness and Physical Therapy in Evergreen Park. She was then certified through the Pilates Method Alliance and decided to expand her career into physical therapy at Fox College in Tinley Park. In her time there, Kate became certified in Pilates for Neurologic Conditions, graduated with her PTA degree in 2017, and became a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Illinois Chapter. Shortly after, Kate began working in a Pilates based orthopedic rehab setting and had accomplished over 5,000 hours of teaching experience. She had a son in 2018, and after maternity leave she began working as a PTA at a neuro rehab 501 c3 non-profit called NextSteps of O'Connor Chicago. She hopes to continue to expand her knowledge in physical therapy as well as alternative disciplines for the benefit of patients and clients, and is fascinated at the objective gains her patients and clients are making after each and every session.
