Carol McCune Castelhano
Profile
Carol Castelhano discovered Pilates in 1997 in Santa Monica, Ca. While taking a spinning class she saw a small room with some “different” looking equipment in it and was introduced to an instructor who she would discover, years later, was trained in NY in the classical method of Romana’s Pilates. She practiced consistently through the years and when she moved to Texas in 2007, she decided to make a career change and become a full time Pilates Instructor. As luck would have it, Romana Kryzanowska, one of the few living proteges of Joseph Pilates, had moved to Arlington, TX and along with Cha Cha Guerrero was running a training studio.
The Romana’s Pilates training is an intense 800+ hour apprenticeship which took about 10 months of full time study to complete. Many hours are spent observing other teachers and learning how specific exercises are applied to the individual body in front of you. Carol has studied and taken lessons with instructors all over the country including Juanita Lopez, Sari Mejia Santo, Michael Rooks, Mari Windsor, Michael Levy, Trish Garland, Victoria Torrie-Capan, Brook Siler, Cary Regan, Dorothee VandeWalle, Lori Coleman Brown and many local teachers.
Carol has a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology and was certified by Romana to teach Pilates in 2008. She has taught at Park Cities Pilates and Personal Pilates Plus before opening her own studio, Turtle Creek Pilates, in 2017.
