These two mini-workshops will be 3 hours each, with Sean Gallagher teaching Lymphatics and Pilates and Elaine Ewing teaching Historical Pilates Exercises. We will take an hour lunch break. Lymphatics with Sean Gallagher “Contrology is specifically designed and conducted to arouse sluggish blood, distend every capillary, force lymph through every interstice: by stretching every muscle and sinew and wringing out the body All under the strict control of the awakened brain in each of its ten billions of nerve cells.” -Joseph H. Pilates This workshop will be a review of the lymph system to gain an understanding as to how Authentic Pilates can facilitate the normal function of the lymph and other fluids of the body to improve health and the immune system. Historical Pilates Exercises with Elaine Ewing Experience and learn many well-known exercises in the Pilates Method as Joseph Pilates originally created and taught them. Discover that quite a few exercises and transitions were originally done differently! Elaine will teach historical exercises and transitions on a variety of apparatus in the studio, then give time to participants to practice doing and teaching the exercises. We will discuss how these historical moves can fit into our own practice, how and when we can use them when teaching our clients, and why the exercises have been changed over time.
