You’re in for a treat with this fun, flowing Magic Circle Mat! Molly makes it look easy but as you’ll discover, she’s using the circle to test your strength, control and agility. The circle very quickly pulls your middle together and makes you feel connected and strong—if it wasn’t such hard work, you’d call it magic. In addition to some of the common ways to use the circle, Molly adds some interesting variations that will wake up your brain along with your body. This is a perfect workout for anyone with a previously strong practice looking to recover core strength after time away from Pilates.
In the Roll Up with knees bent and feet on the mat, with the Magic Circle between the legs below the knees, you placed the appropriate side hand on top of the other hand, and then did a Roll Up rotating past the opposite side knee working into the oblique. Is that an exercise taught by Romana?
Thank you very much.
Hi Joesmat, I think you're referring to the Criss-Cross prep I did with the MC between the thighs, feet on mat and pulsing up into the oblique, right? That's a variation I learned from Bob Liekens, who was the teacher trainer other than Romana and Sari when I got certified back in '99.
Yes, indeed it was the preparation for Criss Cross.that I was referring to .I always try to trace the source of a variation in the Classical work, as this is how I learn. Interesting you were taught it by Bob Lieken, and thank you very much for sharing with me. Most gracious of you.
Molly your mat is worth it's weight in gold for the criss-cross series alone. thank you for killing my abs with kindness. 🙂
I loved the variations with the circle....criss cross and teaser were fun 🙂 but probably my favorite element was adding the forearm plank before single leg kick....love that to wake up the powerhouse! Thanks Molly!
Thanks, Pilatesangel! Yeah, that sneaky plank is a good one! xx
I LOVED this video! No part of the 30 minutes is wasted with idle chit chat or too much direction - every piece of commentary is useful. A great workout from head-to-toe in a vacuum-packed 30 minutes. This one is going to become a consistent part of the routine. Can't wait to try more videos from Molly! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your comment, Jennifer! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching! xx Molly
I second the compliment about gentleness..your voice is magic, urging ease and grace. Thank you.
You're very welcome and thank you for the compliment!
Dear Molly,
This exercise is just what I needed. I feel great and sweaty and long 🙂
Thanks a lot and hugs from Turkey, Alaçatı
Sorry I missed your comment! Thank you and glad you liked it! xx Molly
Great class! The moves were easy to follow, and your voice is so soothing.
very gentle way of teaching, great workout, made me sweat and calm down at the same time. magical!thank you.
Just realized it's been 3 years and I still love this workout as much now as I did the first day I tried it. Such a great workout!
Ms. Molly, This was a wonderful workout. Total body, with a bit of cardio too! I feel great! Loved it!
Love this! Even if I do fall over laughing hysterically while trying to get my legs into, then back out of, the circle during the teaser. Actually, I think that's one of the things I loved most about it. Perfecting that move is my new goal.
That's so great, Crystal! Thanks for watching xx
That had some new content for me - loved it!
