I’m hearing that the Gratz Magic Circle is metal
and may be too heavy for at home use without an instructor

Alisa, you’ve been so generous with your time. I’m hoping you can answer another question for me. I ordered the Gratz magic circle. What’s your opionion on its use for home practice? I’m getting conflicting feedback from other Pilates practioners.

      Hi Lannette,
I’m happy to help! I love using the magic circle at home, may I ask what the conflicting information you’ve heard is? My feeling is that it’s a super useful device for centering the body and it also lends variety to home workouts–win win.

Whomever is telling you that is mistaken, Gratz doesn’t produce the old metal version. The one you purchased is a lighter weight plastic just like the ones produced by Stamina. It’s true that the metal versions are heavier and I’m sure you could hurt yourself by dropping one on your face or something but as far as squeezing it goes they are simply harder to squeeze depending on how many metal rings are used. PS – Here’s a link to our store where you can see the various versions, metal and plastic. The metal ones are produced by Balanced Body: https://pilatesology.com/product-category/props/

Alisa, thanks again for a clear, concise answer. I can’t wait to get my Magic Circle and add it to my existing routine.

This is the perfect beginner workout for my student. I will use the sequence for my client today. I love the hugging cue. Makes it more fun than just squeezing!!

An awesome workout! I feel that the Magic Circle really teaches me to be more aware of my body and the movements. And the cuing is spot on. Thank you!
I signed up for the 10-day trial but I will surely stick around for a lot more. 🙂

Thank you Alisa – this was a perfect workout for me and really well differentiated for me as someone returning to Pilates after a few years.

Thanks Mandilu, I’m glad you’re here! Please let us know which classes work for you, we are trying to grow our library of classes for those who are familiar with Pilates but maybe de-conditioned or have been away.

I love this video for the clear cuing, perfect tempo, and self assessment at the end of the video! Thank you Alisa, for another awesome video 🙂 My abs were so sore after this deep workout. Did this sequence with two of my clients this morning, and they loved it too!
